“With this system I want to avoid making arbitrary decisions in awarding the Top-Antagonist”

Red Hook Crit just released a new system to award the top-antagonist of the race. Up until now it was race director David Trimble that decided who to award Top-Antagonist of the race. This system is now being replaced. We asked David Trimble on the reason for the change.

“With this new system I just want to make clear for everyone why someone is awarded Top-Antagonist. Up until now it was me making the decision but I can only judge the riders when crossing the finish-line which meant that some riders that attacked a lot but not in sight of the finish line were going unnoticed. With this system I want to avoid making arbitrary decisions in awarding the Top-Antagonist.”

“At each race this year we will have a different set of rules on how it’s scored. Gone is the arbitrary system that required us to guess the winner. For Brooklyn the athlete who has the highest cumulative position across the line for the first 5 laps of the race will take it. Rockstar Games is increasing the prize money and Castelli Cycling will make a custom skinsuit for the winner to wear at the next round.”
