The registration for the Thundercrit, which will be held on May 6 in London, closes in 4 days. This year, the event will be bigger and better than last year with 114 already registered in the men’s category and 21 for the women’s race. Being on the calendar a week after RHC BK 10, this could be a perfect opportunity for riders to take their RHC shape to London. Registration and more info can found here . The crit is organised by the North London Thundercats (NLTCBMBC).
We spoke briefly to race director Rob Green on the registered riders and race favourites. “Both our winners from last year are back. Paul Vanotti from Disorderly Habits and Jo Smith (now unattached). We’ve got some large teams entering too, so we’ll see if they work together to control races or not.”
“In the men’s race Alec Briggs has got to be amongst the favourites from the British based riders alongside Alex Blomeley and George Garner of The 5th Floor, Dimitri Demishev of NLTCBMBC and Owen Blandy and Dan Cooper of ELF Huez. But there is some excellent competition with the Disorderly Habits team, BLB Santafixie and Fixedpott flying in for the race. Of course we have well known names like Chas Christiansen, Jeremy Santucci and Will Lewis signed up too and we’re hoping they can get travel arrangements sorted after RHC.”
“In the women’s race it could be very tight at the front. Jo Smith won’t find it easy to defend her title. Former team mates Keira McVitty and Hayley Edwards will push her as well as Juliet Elliott, Aoife Doherty, Francisca Campos and Kristina Matovic.”
